In Case You Missed It, #14

Listen to the music of Assembly Online 2020 (website, Demozoo) right here, right now!

Assembly traditionally has many different music compos so it comes as no surprise that this episode once again has a pretty decent length of more than one and a half hours.

The most notable track is indubitably jco’s “Triple Troll,” a waltz mixed with traditional Bavarian folk music, a bit of thrash metal, and a single hardstyle kickdrum hit; it was entered into the Fast Music compo that had the theme of “waltz music” this year which is why there are many tracks in this episode with a 3/4 or 6/8 time signature, such as Yzi’s “Lapset vauhdilla nukkumaan” or “Three Versus Four” by Chipremacy who were present in three different compos!

A second compo that provided a number of tracks was the Acid Music compo which was co-hosted by the TRSAC party which this year couldn’t take place (you know why). It was once again mixed by lug00ber and brought us acid mixed with drum & bass (“T 2 Da C” by lug00ber and gloom) or acid mixed with jazz (“Acid Music Is So Fine” by jeenio who used this year to get back into making music and whose new electronic wind instrument made a fantastic job of being a trumpet in “Waltz with Me,” his fast music entry) plus a whole host of pure acid goodness by the likes of Booster, Puryx, and Subi.

The demo compo also provided a number of very good soundtracks, the winning demo “Ember Dream” by Adapt has a beautiful soundtrack by Basscadet, and the soundtracks of Peetu’s Clockwork and Astral’s Superwide Reality are both amazing in that they have a lot of space that can be filled by your imagination, and my imagination immediately took up the task and ran with it. 🙂

My favourite track of this episode was submitted by Mrs. Beanbag in the Streaming Music compo and is named “Leave It for Tomorrow.” It is a marvellous mixture between a 60’s kids TV show theme and an Oasis song. Brilliant! 💕

The next episode will be a “Best of 2020” episode somewhen at the end of December. Details are still a bit hazy but will be revealed in time. Stay tuned!
